ELECTRICITY
Off the grid, the electricity comes from solar panels, and the energy is stored in batteries. There is electricity in the Casa Grande, (kitchen and dining area), and in the two houses. The JUNGLE YURTS have small fans in case you get warm in the night, but do NOT have electricity to charge a phone or ipod.
EMERGENCY
There is a good clinic in Puerto Jimenez and a full service pharmacy. There is a 24-hour emergency plane in Jimenez to take a patient to San Jose where there are excellent hospitals, if needed.
EMERGENCY CONTACT NUMBERS
We have SKYPE and internet at the Casa Grande. There is a cellular phone for outgoing calls and many people find that an international plan that SPECIFIES Costa Rica works on the Osa.

WHAT TO BRING
Pack lightly! A separate letter of recommended items will come after registration. In general the usual, yoga mat, bathing suit, sunglasses, sun screen, book, and a camera!
PASSPORT/ VISA/ VACCINATIONS
You MUST have a valid passport to enter Costa Rica, it must not expire within 30 days of your arrival for Americans and 180 days for other nationalities. Please check with the appropriate consulate.
You do not need a Visa to visit Costa Rica, as an American, other nationalities should check with the consulate.
There are no necessary vaccinations for Costa Rica. However, if you are concerned about any potential illnesses or warnings, we recommend visiting the CDC website and address personal concerns with your family physician. Though there are mosquitoes and other insects, there are fewer concerns there than many American cities.
If you have a BEE allergy, please let us know, as there are scorpions that have a similar sting. THOUGH we have not really seen any and the stings are rare, a couple Benadryl are excellent to have on hand if you have sensitivity. If you have a severe allergy, we will make certain the necessary precautions are in place.
